Final Year Project : Industrial System Ethernet TCP/IP

Objective:

The objective of this project is to make a study case in TCP / IP Ethernet architecture and apply them in the industrial system by using the TCP / IP Ethernet assembly line simulator and program it using twin cad.

Abstract:

In this project, I will study the architecture of the Ethernet TCP / IP and implement it on the Ethernet Simulator. To run this Ethernet Simulator, first we must program this system with Twin Cad software. In the program, we must synchronize all five stations to work in the real time and try to avoid failure for each station. Each station has its own automation system including sensors and pneumatic system.

Introduction:

Ethernet TCP / IP in industrial system such as fieldbus is a new revolutionary in Malaysia Industrial. This method had been used in develop country such as United Kingdom and USA since 1980’s. This technology is the most reliable because:

• Ethernet TCP / IP protocol is now standardize around the world. So that the fieldbus system can be easily installed (RJ 45 socket and cable)
• High data transmission rates. Ideal for real time process system that need high data transfer to avoid failure in the system
• Wide range of services and interfaces. Can attach many devices at one time.

In order to study and develop this system, there are some important term that related to this system. Most of them are the basic thing in Ethernet TCP / IP protocol. Each term has its own definition, literature review and characteristic. They are Fieldbus, Ethernet, OSI, TCP / IP and Star Topology Connection.

Methodology:

Architecture learning

At the first stage, I will learn the architecture of the Ethernet TCP / IP device. This knowledge is new for me, so I need to do some research on the internet and also learn from the book about this topic.

Software learning.

The Ethernet TCP / IP device required a software programming to run. Twin cad is the interface programming for the Ethernet TCP / IP device. This device also can run with other software such as Visual Basic because the manufacturer has been set the device to be open source to any programming software.
